Hello, my fellow hunger gamers who are happy.

Tonight I have to thee with a new thread idea as I am highly bored and, y'know, I have nothing better to do at this time of night but sit back and watch my dog give himself a bath.

This thread's purpose is to post your computers' specs. This means your CPU, your video card (GPU), how much RAM you have, how much space do you have on your hard drive if you have one, and if you have an SSD or not. This is only because I am curious about what different computer parts other fellow players of this community have in their beast-machines.

To start it off, I have an Intel i5 2.90GHz processor, an NVIDIA GeForce 840M graphics card, 8 GB of RAM, a 1 TB hard drive and a 120 GB SSD.

Go crazy, my fellow humans, and good night.

btw, my webserver consists of a old af Dell with about 260GB of HDD space that I first played MC on (first computer I used to play HHG, I actually salvaged logs and pictures all the way back to early 2013 before wiping it and booting Debian :D)

(I mainly use it to host archives and backup files)

So, is Debian good?

1TB Barracuda hard drive.
NVIDIA GeForce 960 Turbo special edition graphics card.
SLI Asus z87 motherboard (I think that's what it's called. Don't have the exact parts on me right now).
A 250GB SSD.

dude
I wish i could build a gaming computer. For me, to build one woud be about 4,000 dollars.

this is similar to what i would build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jMBtzy
I built my little brother a PC cheeper than an Xbox One that runs GTAV at 60FPS at around the same graphical settings as XBONE (fairly low) WITH MODS. (Here it is incase you want to do it too! Its only 750$ because of the peripherals, if you already have a monitor/mouse/keyboard/OS you should be good to go! http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Masterfireheart/saved/CQ8qqs)

So no... you dont need a 4k$ computer. I have a hulk of a PC that I started building 4 years ago and I've only spent about 1300$ (soon 2k$ when I buy a new dGPU). This thing handles rendering a lot better than any 4k$ alienware bullcrap

There is so much wrong with this list I dont even know where to start

First off, take a look at my build to see what I mean throughout this: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Masterfireheart/saved/wQd2FT

1) RAM: holy balls that is expensive compared to what I got. (I got mine for about 100$ cheeper than it says on PCPartpicker)

ALSO: WHY 32?

You honestly really dont need 32GB unless you fancy highend video editing (Sony Vegas/AE with 20+ effects layers working with AVI videos over an hour long). It doesn't HURT to have that much, but for Gaming it's generally overkill ;)

2) you dont need a WiFI adapter, get an ethernet cable (even the really long ones usually arent as expensive as that if you look in the right places), plus the speed is FASTER

3) The Sound Card is totally not needed. You can buy the same Audio Interface as I have (THEY LOWERED THE PRICE 40$ SINCE I BOUGHT IT TOO!) for only 80$ (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UMC204HD) which has the same audio capabilites PLUS its own custom ASIO support, AND you can plug XLR/MIDI cables into your computer (aka Good Microphone (XLR) or Controller/Keyboard (MIDI)) (not to mention the amazing speaker/headphone config knobs)

And similar to RAM: why do you NEED 192KHz?

Hell, I almost NEVER use that frequency on my PC (96KHz 24/32bit masterrace) because the difference between 96KHz and 192KHz is aesthetic. Almost noone can hear the true difference, and yet audio files created with it will be bigger in file size, and videos/media played with it enabled will load 2x slower and stutter often (if your PC/Connection isn't good).

4) Is the "UPS" thing really necessary?

5) The optical drive puts me at a loss for words....

YOU DONT EVEN NEED IT 99.999999999% OF THE TIME AND YOU COULD DO THE SAME STUFF WITH THIS: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-optical-drive-sh224bb

6) Pretty sure you dont need a 1500W power supply for all that (especially after my adjustments)

7) 5 TB HARD DRIVE.....

Its actually a pretty good deal for what it is, but you really DONT need 5TB of space right off the bat (maybe save money/get it as a gift later for an extension as most Full Tower cases have at least 6 official slots for HDDS and 6 bays for extension slots :)

8) I hope you realize getting a 4K monitor isnt really a good idea now as the tech isnt great yet. Dont expect ANY GPU to be able to run games at 4K with max settings (even SLI Titans) and still get over 60FPS (speaking of that, only 60Hz? if you wanna go overkill why not go for 144Hz?? /sarcasm)

No but seriously buy at most a 1440p monitor (I suggest good ol 1080p) and have the refresh rate be at least 120Hz if you want to (doesnt need to be more than 60Hz if you dont want to spend the $$)

Please, if you are reading this, dont buy this build. PM me if you need help with a build and I will gladly help you make something within your guidelines/budget that will make you happy :)

Holy, I can say I like you more now, you are in love with pc's, same here :) For about 500 dollars you can get a pre-build with power to run many high end games too

I appreciate the compliment, but NOOOOOOO

Pre-builds are NEVER a good thing, you always get something way too expensive for what it is! Building your own PC isn't as hard as it seems (a few YT vids will help you immensly)

EDIT: BWAHAHAHA MY 1500TH POST WAS ABOUT BASHING PREBUILDS THIS IS AMAZING XD

Masterfireheart what would you suggest for future upgrades to my gaming pc? COMPUTER MODEL
Oh and btw I did not pay that price for my computer I payed a way better price than that :) (got it in a special)
Swapping parts out of a prebuilt is fairly more difficult than a homemade PC, but off the bat I can tell you that you will be fine for awhile for the most part! Here are a few things you could do:

1) Swap out the power supply for something bigger (maybe 700W?) and then

2) Swap out the GPU for something newer like a Titan, 980ti, or Fury X (this will have a big effect on how you game :D)

3) Also: if you havent already, ditch windows 8 as it's a piece of garbage and you are better off with Windows 7 or 10 if you got the free upgrade

4 (OPTIONAL) you can add more HHDs when you run out of space :) (that shouldn't be for awhile tho if you have 3TB)

So, is Debian good?
its pretty stable yeah, although I'm also looking into switching to Linux Mint as it seems interesting :) (maybe Arch?)

I got this PC for 800 dollars so I think I made a super good deal, even tho building my own could of came cheaper, but by the time I bought the computer I was a noob, so I did not want to take the risk, but yeah I agree
- I already have Windows 10, windows 8 was very buggy, even tho the 8.1 upgrade helped
Swapping the power supply will make it more silent? Cause I am having trouble getting background noise free recordings, as for the GPU when this one gets old I will swap it out, since it is running Minecraft at 1000 fps and solid 100+ fps on battlefront, 60+ fps cs:go, 60+ Fallout 4, so yeah

if you get one with a better fan it can help :)

although my computer isnt noisy at all and I have a much bigger PSU :p

(I will say that GPUs usually make the most fan noise, have you tried reducing the fan speed on the GPU?)
