I shut my PC down and re-logged in to MC and it still said the maintenance thing.

Well you see, in my opinion, Microsoft is a software ruiner, they ruin every software they buy, even Minecraft! Lel change it to "Keep calm and blame Microsoft" not Mojang since Notch can't make all the decisions for the game anymore
Seriously, I don't understand how having all the money and technology Microsoft has at their service, Mojang's authentication servers are still the same **** which a 8-year-old can take down from years ago...
I wish he didn't sell MinecraftEdit: Also Duke that happens to me a lot of times when I join servers, joining again works for me .-.

That depends. Server side bugs are our fault, since remember that the server is mine and we are not linked with Mojang AB in any way. HOWEVER, in order to log-in a "premium" server such as happy-hg, to make sure you have bought the actual game, your account needs to send an authentication query to Mojang's servers first. If those servers fail, which is the case, no one will be able to connect any Minecraft "premium" server (Most of the actual multiplayer servers we know), so in those cases you can indeed blame Mojang xD
