Anyone know how to salvage my windows 10 from a broken Hardrive? I'd rather not spend another 120$ on a ****** software.

I may have some ways. Need some more info though. Like do you have another hard drive? and can your computer read the broken one?

No i do not have another hard drive but i can buy one. Basically when i load up my pc it hits the desktop and starts to not respond to my clicks and what not. I have about 5-30 seconds before it freezes. I believe its my hard drive though.

Sounds like a virus. Startup your computer in safe mode and run your anti-virus. Also as quickly as you can go to task manager and disable any startup programs.

I only belive it has something to do with the hard drive because when I went to the properties tab on the hard drive and tried running the check or whatever it is, it said that there was an error. Something along the lines of that atleast. I run windows 10. I have let my computer sit for maybe 2 days straight. Ive tried resetting the whole system and that ends up in it saying something like "There was a problem" "Reverting changes" after again, 2 days. And its not like I have a bad computer. Its fairly new and was like a grand.

If it was my computer I would try a ton of things as I normally do but I'm not there. So sorry, can't really offer much more help.

Its the weirdest thing tbh, never happened to me before. And when I took out my hard drive, When I tilt it, it makes this light sand noise.

you could always linux ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Otherwise, I have no idea how to transfer windows over. You could try buying an ssd and install windows on that next time, then the os also boots up faster.
edit: also pretty sure win might be linked to the motherboard too, and if that's the case you *should* be okay. but it might not be, never tried before.

MineJam take out the hard drive and put it into another computer to see if it is a hard drive issue. If it still affects the other computer, then youll probably need a new harddrive.
It could be a driver issue with your computer, and it may be that you can take your harddrive out and take windows off of it and then load it onto a disk and upload it to another harddrive.

With the sand sifting sound you have, it sounds like it might have shredded or busted something. So, you will most likely need a new harddrive. Might be worthwhile checking for local IT services and see if they can help you salvage windows, or google some options. Idk how to salvage it though unfortunately, sorry :(

It sounds like either the hard drive is damaged, or some viral software has re-programmed how your PC works. (Which would render it rather inoperable...)

If the drive is just infected by a virus, then trying to save your OS would be fruitless, as the other drive would get infected too.

If the other drive is damaged, then you might want to consult a drive repair specialist. (Though, that's if anything important is on your drive aside from your OS, since it would sadly cost more to save everything on the drive than to get a new drive and new OS, I think...)

[I suspect it's a virus due to safe mode freezing near-instantly, which is what most viruses target to prevent the user from "beating" the virus.]

Thanks for the help! Most of the pc places around my area try to sell hard drives for nearly 120$ for a 500gb drive. I will try to save all of my things I spent money on like my intros and things like that and i could care less about the Drive, just don't want to spend 120$ on windows again.

oh and also, (hoping this doesn't count as a double post as 3 day dif)
you can reuse your activation key! Just use the installer and insert your old activation key.
